Founder
Mia Upshaw made her first film at 14. It was a short horror film created with and starring her high school friends that no one will ever see.
While the film may never be screened, it sparked a passion for storytelling that shaped the course of her career. That passion led her to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Filmmaking from Loyola University New Orleans, where she immersed herself in the independent film community and developed her skills as a producer and director.
A Baton Rouge native, Mia began her career as a child actress before discovering her passion behind the camera. Since then, she has worked across multiple areas of production, developing projects from concept to completion while producing films, commercials, podcasts, branded content, and digital campaigns.
Today, Mia resides along the Gulf Coast, where she works as a multimedia producer and director while managing her businesses, Mia Upshaw Prods and Elite Content Studios. Her work combines cinematic storytelling with strategic creative direction, partnering with filmmakers, brands, nonprofits, and organizations to bring meaningful stories to life.
Mia founded Mia Upshaw Prods with one mission: to champion independent storytelling while creating opportunities for emerging creatives. She believes that powerful stories deserve to be told regardless of budget, background, or industry connections, and is committed to helping filmmakers move their ideas from development to distribution.
My Story
Every creative journey begins somewhere.My passion for storytelling started at an early age through performance and a deep curiosity about the art of filmmaking. What began as a fascination with stories eventually evolved into a career dedicated to producing meaningful visual experiences.
Over the years, I’ve worked across multiple areas of production, gaining hands-on experience in developing projects from concept to completion. Whether coordinating productions, supporting directors, or leading creative teams, every opportunity has strengthened my understanding of how powerful storytelling can be.Today, I continue to create work that blends creativity with purpose—building productions that are visually engaging, emotionally authentic, and thoughtfully produced.For me, filmmaking isn’t simply about creating content; it’s about creating experiences that stay with audiences long after the screen goes dark.
